Beginner Jazz Instructor (Ages 8-9)

Inspire Dance Company is seeking a strong, experienced Beginner Jazz Instructor to work with dancers ages 8–9 in a technique-focused jazz class. This is a critical developmental age where dancers begin refining foundational skills, building strength and coordination, and developing discipline within a structured classroom setting. At Inspire, dancers are grouped by ability level — not by competitive vs. recreational track. This class will include both competitive and recreational dancers, and the instructor must be able to hold clear technical expectations while creating an inclusive environment where all dancers feel challenged and supported. ⸻ About Inspire Dance Company Founded by Lauren Lombardi, Inspire Dance Company is committed to developing the whole dancer — emphasizing strong technique, physical health, mental resilience, and positive studio culture. Our training is intentional, progressive, and rooted in proper foundations. ⸻ Position Overview The Beginner Jazz Instructor will: • Teach strong jazz fundamentals including alignment, flexibility, strength, turns, jumps, progressions, and musicality • Reinforce ballet-based technique within jazz movement • Maintain consistent structure and expectations • Build classroom discipline and focus appropriate for this developmental stage • Differentiate within ability levels to appropriately challenge all dancers There may be opportunity for the right candidate to choreograph for our competition team, depending on experience and demonstrated leadership. ⸻ Responsibilities • Deliver curriculum-based jazz technique classes • Maintain strong classroom management and clear behavioral expectations • Prepare recital choreography • Communicate professionally with families when needed • Collaborate with faculty to support dancer development and team culture • Potentially choreograph competition routines (based on experience) ⸻ Qualifications • Minimum 2 years of dance teaching experience • Experience teaching children ages 8–10 required • Strong classroom management skills (essential) • Well-versed in jazz technique and ballet foundations • Ability to balance discipline with encouragement • Organized, professional, and growth-minded ⸻ Ideal Candidate We are looking for an instructor who understands that beginner-level training at this age is not “easy” — it is foundational.
